For our March program, we welcome New York Times best-selling author Carrie Vaughn. The seventh book in her popular Kitty Norville series, Kitty’s House of Horrors, was released in January. Her first young adult novel, Voices of Dragons, will be released this month. In addition to her always-worth-reading prose, if you’ve seen Carrie and the Midnight Hour program at MileHiCon (and you really should have!), you know what an entertaining speaker she is. This is definitely a program not to miss!
Visit Carrie online at www.carrievaughn.com and http://carriev.wordpress.com/
Coming up:
April – J Alan Erwine will talk to us about his writing, editing and game design projects.
May – Michael Carroll, astronomical/dinosaur artist and author, is our speaker.
Well, shucks, they postponed the opening of Iron Man to the Friday after the Alternate, so there goes that plan. Depending on who may have volunteered at the February meeting and or/who else wants it, I could still take either the April Dead Dog or May Alternate. (I promise not to make attendees watch my 2,500 pictures from New Zealand, but I might have kiwi fruit on hand or—if I’m feeling ambitious—make a Pavlova to serve!)
Parties, Plots & Plans
The March Alternate at Bruce & Sandy’s was fun; I made the latter half after a full day of nieceling birthday extravaganza that included Alice in Wonderland in 3-D (which I think would be better if not viewed from the very first row). Hope to see many of you at the March Dead Dog, hosted by Gail & Sourdough. And make plans now to attend John & Bonnie’s Sci Fi Film Festival Alternate in April. Be thinking about whether/when YOU are willing to host a DASFA party!
It’s been a while since it was updated, so I’m thinking about doing a new edition of the DASFA Directory. If you aren’t already in it and want to be listed, I’ll have sign-up forms at the meeting.
The directory is much shorter than last month, but I’ll be at the meeting this time around.
Yours in fandom,
Rose
